Below are Cathedral Preschool’s program offerings for the 2026-27 school year. Registration begins February 2, 2026, for St. Stephen Cathedral parishioners and families of current/past students. It opens to the general public on Monday, February 9.
Space is very limited – the best way to secure a spot for your child in the 4-year-old program is to enroll them in the 3-year-old program the year before. If the class you want has a waiting list, please go ahead and complete a registration form so that your child’s name can be added to the list. If a spot opens up, we’ll contact you to see if you’d like to complete the enrollment process at that point.
Please note that the tuition rates listed below reflect a 5 percent increase from 2025-26 rates, but will not be finalized until mid-June. The rates below are for your planning purposes only.

Class – Age Requirements
3- to 4-year-old preschool classes – Must be 3 by August 1, 2026,* and potty trained**
4- to 5-year-old Pre-K classes – Must be 4 by August 1, 2026; please note that children who are older 4’s/5’s who have not attended preschool before would fall into this class
5- and older Pre-K – Must be 5 by August 1, 2026, and must have previous school experience
All children must be completely potty trained and able to provide a reasonable, developmentally appropriate degree of self-care.
*Exceptions to the age cutoff for 3-year-olds may be considered on a case-by-case basis in conjunction with Kentucky Department of Education kindergarten enrollment exception parameters. Enrollment priority will be given to students who meet the age cutoff, as children under the age of 3 require additional staffing and regulatory requirements. Please contact the school office to discuss this possibility further.
**Children must be potty-trained before attending preschool. No pull-ups are allowed (except during naptime.) If a child is unable to remain accident-free, families may be asked to withdraw the child until potty training is complete.
Logistical and Other Considerations
- Early Arrival – We offer early arrival beginning at 7:15 a.m. each day. To provide adequate staffing, early arrival childcare will be available through prior signup for a small added monthly fee. Normal arrival, including drive-up drop-off, is available without a fee or signup starting at 7:45 each day.
- WrapAround Care is available to children up to 5 days per week. Children can attend WrapAround on the days they attend morning preschool. If a child needs to stay for WrapAround on fewer days than they attend morning preschool, that can be arranged if space allows.
- Our 5-year-old Pre-K program is designed for children who have at least one prior year of preschool and are eligible to move on to kindergarten by their age, but are taking another year to prepare and mature. It is not an advanced class of the 4- to 5-year-old Pre-K classrooms. Both the 4- to 5-year-old Pre-K program and the 5-year-old Pre-K programs are structured to prepare a child for a successful start in kindergarten.
Class Placement, Waiting Lists, Etc.
All classes are filled in the order of receiving the completed forms and fees (registration form, Kentucky immunization certificate and registration fee). Until all three are received, your child’s name cannot be placed on a class list. We will make every effort to accommodate your choices; however, due to the restrictions on class size, we may place your child in your second choice of classes. We also cannot make promises regarding teacher preference due to the many factors used in determining class makeup.
Cathedral Preschool does not maintain a waiting list leading up to the registration dates for the next school year. We only begin a waiting list for a class once registration is underway and a class becomes full.
If you wish to be placed on a waiting list for a particular class, it is easy to do and doesn’t require the registration fee — just complete the online registration form and select the desired class, and your name will be placed on the list. If an opening comes up, we will contact you to see if you are still interested in the class; if you are, we will ask for the registration fee at that point. Keep in mind that class rosters and waiting lists can be very fluid due to several factors — families move out of town for a job, potty training is looking grim for a future student, etc. — so, even though a class currently has a waiting list, it is not unusual for spots to open up. Accordingly, we ask that you inform the office as soon as possible if your family’s plans for the upcoming school year change, so that we may adjust our plans as well.
Notes Regarding Tuition
In years past, a supply fee equal to one month’s morning preschool tuition was due on July 15 and February 15. Starting in 2022-23, the supply fee was rolled into the monthly tuition so that families’ expenses are more evenly distributed. As part of the change, some supplies that were purchased separately are now included: the school tote bag, school t-shirt, and the WrapAround sheet and blanket. Cathedral also provides all snacks and drinks (lunch for WrapAround needs to be sent in though.) Please keep this in mind when comparing Cathedral’s tuition rates to those of other local schools.
All tuition is collected online via the Brightwheel app on a monthly basis. Tuition is collected for 10 months, from August 1 to May 1.
Cathedral Preschool welcomes students whose families receive assistance through the Kentucky Childcare Assistance Program. However, please be advised that full CCAP assistance does not cover the entire amount of Cathedral’s tuition, and families are responsible for paying the monthly overage amount and the registration fee.
